Nestled in the heart of Huizhou’s Wild Island Community, gogoland stands as a testament to innovative architectural design by Informal Design in 2023. Covering an area of 300 m², this pet-friendly public space radiates a sense of history through its architectural prowess, creating an inviting haven for pets and their human companions.
Green Adornments and Joyful Running Impressions
From the entrance, gogoland captivates with subtle green adornments, setting the stage for a unique experience. Design elements inspired by pets’ paws are intricately woven into the space, symbolizing the joyous running of pets. The circular motif, a visual brand symbol, unifies various details like door handles, corner guards, signs, and air vents, creating a harmonious theme throughout.
Seamless Integration of Nature and Architecture
Transformed from a former dormitory building owned by a rice wine factory, gogoland embraces an eco-friendly approach. The project integrates an uncovered open space, forming a lush green dome with surrounding tall trees, seamlessly blending nature with architecture. The emphasis on natural light creates an experiential space that extends into an outdoor garden, harmoniously expanding the building volume.
Spatial Trajectory and Play of Light & Shadow
The entrance ramp, gentle in its slope, guides visitors through a thoughtful trajectory, transitioning from different vantage points. This intentional design creates a sense of ritual and community connection. The interplay of light and shadow within the interior evokes comfort, while the overhanging structure forms a semi-outdoor area, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Functional Innovation Beyond Conventional Boundaries
gogoland breaks free from conventional norms with functional rooms housed within two rectangular boxes. These boxes, connected to both interior and exterior spaces, host a range of facilities, from a bar counter and kitchen to a pet hotel. Glass partitions within the boxes maintain visual connections while ensuring each room enjoys natural light. The design emphasizes an open, inclusive atmosphere, preserving the natural surroundings.
Architectural Texture Infused with Sunlight
Preserving the existing architectural skin, gogoland exudes a textured ambiance with marine plywood wall veneers against pure white textured paint. The marriage of these materials, basking in sunlight, creates an elegant and simplistic atmosphere. As time weathers the building, the materials harmonize, restoring the essence of the place.
Pet-friendly Design for Ultimate Comfort
Furniture within gogoland is meticulously designed for the comfort of pets and their owners. Fixed benches allow space for puppies to explore, while movable pieces like tables and chairs ensure stability. Specially designed accessories, like dog leash holders and cup holders, add thoughtful touches.
